Only Love is Real Blues Benefit for Hurricane Maria

Alexis P. Suter will be presenting the Only Love is Real Blues Benefit for Hurricane Maria on November 21st at the B.B. King Blues Club and Grill on 42nd street in NYC.  The doors will open at 7:00 and tickets are $20 available through the B.B. King website or box office.  There will be a silent auction and other opportunities to make contributions at the event.  All monies collected will be donated to GlobalGiving specifically to the Hurricane Maria Dignity for Women in Puerto Rico Fund, the Hurricane Maria/ Irma Help Children in Puerto Rico Fund and the Puerto Rico and Caribbean Relief Fund.  In the next few days a page will be posted on the GlobalGiving Foundation, Inc. website where donations can be made as well.
Alexis has been wanting to help the victims of the tragic hurricane since it struck the Carribbean.  She immediately began organizing a benefit to raise money for this cause.  Alexis put much time into finding a charitable organization to partner with where 100% of the donations are allocated to aiding the people and rebuilding their lives.  GlobalGiving was a perfect fit.
The B.B. King Blues Club kindly donated their main room for event as well as box office services.  Alexis then reached out to musicians who were available on November 21st to perform at the benefit.  In perfect harmony, not one artist turned her down.  The line-up includes:  Alexis P. Suter, Vanessa Collier, Slam Allen, Tas Cru, Javier Luis, Eddie Jackson's Time Out (surviving members of the Michael Packer Blues Band), Kareem Walkes, Frank Mirra, Michael Lewis, Tom Terry, Beareather Reddy, Miche Braden, Jerry Dugger and finally, members of the Brooklyn Interdenominational Choir.  While most music will be blues, there will be something for everyone's musical enjoyment - some salsa, funk, jazz and gospel.  The musicians will also be joining together in on-stage jams. The incredibly effervescent Vicki Bell of the Alexis P. Suter Band will be emcee for the evening.
With November being a time of thankfulness for what we are blessed with in our lives, it is also the perfect time to look to those who have lost so much in the devistation of hurricane Maria.  It will be months and even years until many residents of the islands hit by this storm have any kind of normalcy in their lives.  Many are drinking dirty water, living in cardboard shelters and starving.  Healthcare is scarce, roads are still impassable and people are mourning the loss of loved ones.  Some remote villages have yet to be reached except by foot.  It is Alexis's hope that people will come together in love on the 21st and enjoy a night of music at the premier NYC blues club, B.B. King's Blues Club, and at the same time help those in dire need from hurricane Maria.  Alexis is a firm believer in the power of love and compassion, especially when people are helping other people.  Those who know her understand how deeply passionate she is about making our world a better place through music.  Everyone involved with this benefit shares her passion and this will be a night of music, giving and love.  As Alexis always says, love + love = LOVE.
